This is what we are seeing all across the industry; day after day new emails from vendor's telling us that their prices are rising, every order we make for materials needs to be revised because the last price is no longer valid, and for good reason. The cost of steel materials has been steadily increasing throughout 2020, and it unfortunately has not slowed into 2021. The reduced capacities of companies in this industry due to Covid-19 health and safety regulations continues to have an impact. As a result, we are forced to increase our list pricing for 2021 and add a steel surcharge to off-set the rising costs that is projected to continue this year. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have on our close and prospective customers. We we will do what we can to keep our prices low when the opportunities are found, but right now we are left with little options.

Description
The Vortex Stump Grinder is a state of the art attachment designed for Skid Steer Loaders. This attachment is perfect for operators wanting to remove all those unwanted tree stumps that are in the way. Every component of the Vortex was carefully thought out when designing this attachment. Giving you the confidence that you’ll be able to grind with ease in the most extreme conditions. The Vortex is engineered with a high torque radial piston motor, that is combined with a robust direct drive system for increased power and cutting efficiency.
NOTE: A case drain is required to run this attachment. Failure to use the case drain WILL result in motor failure.
New Rubber Guard Reduces Debris Spray
Eterra's Vortex Skid Steer Stump Grinder now comes with a newly renovated rubber guard that does a much better job of reducing the spray of wood chips! Customer satisfaction is Eterra's top priority and they have listened to operator feedback and addressed the limitations that the old rubber guard had. The new guard is much larger and has a more rounded edge to capture more debris than the old guard which was more rectangular in shape. Photos 5 and 6 above show the Stump Grinder with the New Guard attached!
Models
The Eterra Vortex Stump Grinder comes in two models the V27 and V31. The V27 model features a 27” diameter cutting wheel combined with standard flow rating of 18-30 GPM. The V31 model features a 31” diameter cutting wheel combined with a high flow rating of 30-45 GPM.
Wheel
The Vortex Stump Grinder is designed with three main components. The non- symmetrical wheel, radial piston motor and a robust direct drive system. Take a closer look at this attachment and one of the first things you’ll notice is the non-symmetrical wheel it’s main purpose is to increase operators visibility when grinding tree stumps. The wheel is made up of high strength alloy steel. It's 3/4" thick and features abrasion resistant wear plates. This feature helps ensure that the wheel itself isn't going to be worn down because they are a softer material than the wheel and protrude out from the wheel.
Drive System
The drive system has two critical parts. The radial piston motor and direct drive system. In a perfect world we’d be able to convert 100% of the machines hydraulic horsepower going to the Vortex’s motor into torque and speed. A radial piston motor is highly efficient, converting close to 95% of the hydraulic flow’s energy into horsepower used by the Vortex to grind stumps. This Vortex Stump Grinder also has a unique anti-cavitation aspect that allows it to be operated without a check valve which leads to fewer areas of failure. The direct drive system is the other key feature of the Vortex’s power center. It’s an oil bathed enclosed hub system. By enclosing the bearings in this manner, it leaves no margin for error with operators because there are no external couplers to monitor or change and nothing to grease.
Housing
The Stump Grinder is housed with a robust grade 50 steel housing, coupled with Eterra’s heavy duty universal skid steer mounting plate. The housing is also equipped with a footrest to place the attachment down on without worry of damaging the motor or hoses. The housing also comes equipped with a replaceable fiber reinforced rubber guard that will minimize chip spray from the grinder. It has been designed to allow the debris impact to be absorbed, without allowing the guard to be pulled into the grinder when grinding stumps below ground.
