Product overview
Over the Tire Steel Skid Steer Tracks - 12" Narrow (fits 12 x 16.5" tires)
Ideal for rough terrain and muddy conditions. Wet and soupy mud is not a problem, and they give you more flotation than larger, heavier tracks.
- Better traction and superior flotation
- Half the weight and half the cost of larger tracks
- Easier on your skid steer
- Easier to handle
- High carbon US steel, heat treated with 3TPlus™ (Time, Temperature, Transformation) Technology for hard, long-wearing, tough tracks
- All links adjustable in 1" increments
- 5/8" shoulder bolt, through hardened to Grade 9
- No bushings
- Easy on and off in about 20 minutes. An installation tool is not included; a ratchet strap works well.
- Self cleaning
- Manufactured in the USA
- Designed for 1,000 to 1,500 hours of life, depending on how corrosive and abrasive your work is. Most customers run under 200 hours per year, so expect at least 5 years of use.
- Not rebuildable. Recycle when they reach the end of their life.
Fit and clearance
- Measure your actual tire width before ordering. Tread width can vary from 10.5" to 11-1/4". Many 12" tires are much narrower than 12", and tracks that are too wide can drift from side to side.
- You should have about 3" of clearance between the tire sidewall and the frame so the tracks don't contact the frame in tight turns. If you don't, check whether your wheels turn around, or whether your machine has reversible offset rims that allow tracks without spacers.
- If you need spacers, count the lugs on your wheels. Most machines use 8-bolt wheels; some older machines use 6-bolt.
- Check boom clearance. With the boom all the way down, you should have about 2" of clearance around the boom. A boom stop may be needed, but it stops the bucket from lying flat when grading.
Terrain notes
These tracks are not ideal for ice or steep clay. Because they have no side grousers, they can skate sideways on icy side slopes, and on steep slippery hillsides the flotation can let the machine slide forward. For those conditions, a bar-style track offers more traction with less flotation. The smooth track style can cross grass and driveways. It will leave a mark, but no permanent damage.
