Designed for use by machines with less than 50Hp and 1300# lifting capacity. All of the features of our heavy duty models, except everything has been downsized to allow smaller machines to maintain a larger payload. Instead of a 14" reach from the lower tines, the light series provides an 8" reach. The tines are thinner and narrower. The shape is similar but the entire grapple is just smaller so the overall weight is about 65% of the full sized grapples. You are able to carry more material instead of the extra weight being eaten up by the grapple.

How do you tell a good grapple from a wimpy grapple? The distance from the tip of the rake to the first cross support, cheap materials need a lot of reinforcing. When you reinforce a root grapple, you pretty much destroy its usefulness. We use AR400 for all of the tines on this grapple which makes it able to act like a true root grapple and actually get under and rip up the roots.

The tines on our Light Duty Series Grapple extend 8 Inches without any support. This allows you to root grapple into the dirt and tear out anything that is in the ground. Ask any other grapple manufacturer what materials they use and the answer will most likely be A36 or A50 which is just mild steel. This material is fine for backplates, but not for the grapple itself. We use a lot of AR400 material. Who else uses AR400? The U.S. military uses AR400 for armor plate. That is just how tough this material is.

The tines do not extend far out in front, but more downward. They allow you to bring the material in close to the backplate so you maintain your center of gravity which allows you to carry even more material. There are two cylinders which operate the upper grapple together to give you a lot of grappling force. The cylinders are tucked in behind the grapple and the hoses are routed behind so you cannot damage either duty normal use.

The upper grapple is a solid piece extending from one side to the other. The best feature of having the upper boom as a solid piece is that you can actually tilt the unit forward and rake backwards into the grapple. You can get right up to the side of a building or fence line and pull material away into the grapple. We know of no other grapple that can operate this way. Our objective with this grapple is to sell you something that actually works well, not just looks like it will work. From the design, materials, the greasable pivot points and structural integrity of this grapple you can see it is a winner.
